Steve's journey into the world of menswear is deeply rooted in his family's legacy of craftsmanship and dedication to sartorial excellence. It traces back to his grandfather, who served as a tailor aboard an aircraft carrier during World War II, meticulously crafting uniforms for servicemen. Additionally, his great grandmother worked as a professional seamstress for Neiman Marcus in Dallas from the 1930s to the 1970s, honing her skills and passion for the art of tailoring.
Following his time at Texas A&M University, where he was actively involved in the Aggie Band and Corps of Cadets, Steve pursued higher education and obtained multiple degrees from Wayland Baptist University. However, it was his familial ties and a desire to carry forward their legacy that ignited his passion for the world of bespoke menswear.
Steve's journey continued as he served as an advanced practice medic and non-commissioned officer in the United States Army, specializing in critical care at the Brook Army Medical Center Trauma and Burn Ward during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His exceptional dedication and leadership earned him the Healthcare Soldier Leadership Award, a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing critical care to injured servicemen and women.
Transitioning from military service to the corporate world, Steve excelled in various roles, showcasing his strategic mindset and business acumen. However, it was his entrepreneurial spirit that eventually led him to the retail sector, where he served as a Regional and Area Manager for multiple menswear stores in Texas.
It was during this time that he recognized an opportunity to create something truly special—a brand that not only honored his family's legacy but also provided discerning gentlemen with impeccably crafted garments that spoke to their individuality.
In pursuit of this vision, Steve founded Blu Fine Menswear, a custom retail brand that stands as a testament to his passion for excellence and commitment to serving others. Through Blu Fine Menswear, Steve has not only continued his family's tradition of craftsmanship but has also made a positive impact on the lives of those who seek distinguished style and personalized service.
In addtion to bespoke custom clothing, BLU has partnered with Republic Boot, Co, to develop a ready-to-wear line of sportcoats under the label "WESTERN BLU".
Beyond his professional endeavors, Steve remains a devoted family man and an active member of his community. Together with his wife Terri, they have four children and one grandchild, each of whom inspires him to strive for greatness. As a member of the West Houston Church of Christ, Steve actively serves on the worship team, embodying his dedication to his faith and community.
